Outdoor Gear Lab made Solo Stove's flagship 27-inch smokeless wood pit its overall pick for 2026, ahead of 16 competitors on both heat output and smoke reduction. The Yukon 2.0 keeps the original's double-wall airflow and finally adds the removable ash pan owners begged for. It's the priciest pick in this lineup, but the lifetime warranty and the way it handles full-size logs get a backyard pit as close to a true campfire as you can get without the smoke.

For over a decade Landmann's Big Sky has been the benchmark entry-level traditional wood fire pit. Its 24-inch deep firebowl with the iconic star-and-moon cutouts handles full fire bundles and throws warm radiant heat in all directions, and screen, grate and poker are all included for well under $150. Smoke management and finish quality don't match the Yukon, but the backyard fire experience is authentic for roughly a third of the price.
