How We Make Money
Short version: affiliate commissions, nothing else. Here is the whole model, so you can judge our incentives for yourself.
Affiliate links
When you click a buy button on Verdict and purchase something, the retailer may pay us a small commission. It costs you nothing extra. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases; we may also join other retailers' affiliate programs. Affiliate links are labeled where they appear.
Why rankings can't be bought
Every score on the site is the average of cited, linked source reviews, and rankings follow the scores mechanically — there is no editorial dial to turn. A retailer paying us a commission has no way to move a product up a list, because nothing in the ranking math knows or cares which retailer the buy button points to. See the editorial policy and methodology.
What we don't do
- No sponsored posts or paid placements
- No free review units from manufacturers
- No display-ad networks
- No selling of reader data
- No “editor's picks” that are really advertiser picks
The incentive, stated plainly
Our only revenue incentive is that you buy something through a link — not that you buy a specific product. The best long-term strategy for that is recommendations you can verify and trust, which is why every rating links to its sources.
