As one of the cheaper 8-inch Dobsonians available, the Sky-Watcher Classic 200P gets recommended to beginners and experienced observers alike. Reviewers liked the quick setup and the large aperture but criticized the focuser design and an uncomfortable finderscope. It used to be the outright price leader; post-COVID pricing has eroded that edge against options like the Apertura AD8. It still works as an entry-level scope for anyone who wants to observe the night sky cheaply. Buyers after premium features or better build quality have better places to spend.
