The short answer

Coop Sleep Goods Cool+ Adjustable Pillow and Slumber Cloud UltraCool Pillow score essentially the same (4.5 vs 4.5). Pick the one whose trade-offs match your priorities — the strengths and watch-outs below are where they actually differ.

Coop Sleep Goods Cool+ Adjustable Pillow
Ranked #1 in Best Cooling Pillows
Coop Sleep Goods Cool+ Adjustable Pillow
4 sources2 derived$119.2as of Aug 1

For hot sleepers, the Coop Cool+ is the clearest upgrade Coop has shipped in years: a phase-change gel cover over plus-shaped foam that breathes about 50% better than the original Eden. Tom's Guide and HGTV both crowned it the best adjustable cooling pillow of the year, and the 100-night trial makes the price easier to stomach. Choose it when you want the adjustability of shredded fill alongside contact-cooling.

Strengths
  • Phase-change gel-infused plus-shaped foam keeps the surface measurably cooler than the original Coop Eden
  • Dual-firmness flip design: one side runs supercooled and firmer, the other softer and cushioning
  • Adjustable fill with included extra Oomph bag — shape it from pancake-flat to chunky side-sleeper loft
Watch-outs
  • At $149 queen / $169 king it costs more than most adjustable foam pillows
  • Cooling sensation fades modestly with prolonged head contact even with the PCM cover
  • Heavy at over 4 lb queen — re-fluffing the shredded fill takes more effort than a down alternative
Slumber Cloud UltraCool Pillow
Ranked #3 in Best Cooling Pillows
Slumber Cloud UltraCool Pillow
3 sources1 derived$92.2as of Aug 1

The Slumber Cloud UltraCool Pillow puts Outlast phase-change fabric, the material Slumber Cloud built its bedding line on, into a soft down-alternative pillow. Apartment Therapy rated the adjustable version 4.5 out of 5, and Sleepopolis, reviewing the same Outlast fabric in Slumber Cloud's Nacreous cover, called it quite breathable and credited it with limiting heat retention overnight. The 30-night trial is the shortest here.

Strengths
  • Outlast phase-change fabric absorbs and releases heat rather than just feeling cool at first touch
  • Two firmness options and three sizes, including a 48-inch body pillow
  • OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certified, with cover and fill both machine washable
Watch-outs
  • The initial cool-touch sensation fades as the phase-change material saturates
  • A 30-night trial is the shortest in this lineup
  • Cooling is noticeably blunted by a thick pillowcase

How they stack up

Coop Sleep Goods Cool+ Adjustable Pillow

More adjustable than the Slumber Cloud UltraCool and the Saatva Latex Pillow, both of which fix loft at the factory. Sleeps measurably cooler than the Cozy Earth Silk Pillow once you actually put a case on it, because the Cool+ cover keeps its bite through cotton. The Purple Harmony beats it on raw airflow, but the Cool+ is the only pillow here you can rebuild from a flat 3-inch profile to a 7-inch slab in two minutes.

Slumber Cloud UltraCool Pillow

It trades the adjustable loft of the Coop Cool+ for the Outlast fabric, which is the more proven temperature-regulating material in this category. It cools harder on contact than the Saatva Latex Pillow, though the Saatva's airflow story is more consistent in a hot bedroom, and it is roughly level with the Purple Harmony on temperature while feeling much softer.
