Ranked #5 in Best Mattresses For Back Pain

Helix Midnight Luxe

4.3

8 sources$1,589as of Oct 2

The Helix Midnight Luxe is a 13.5-inch hybrid featuring a plush pillowtop and GlacioTex cooling cover that effectively regulates temperature for hot sleepers, according to Sypnotix. GoodBed noted its substantial profile provides significant cushioning depth while maintaining structural integrity through dense SupremeSupport 4.0 memory foam. However, the medium-firm construction may be too rigid for lightweight individuals under 130 pounds who need deeper contouring to relieve joint pain. Additionally, the lack of a split king configuration forces couples using adjustable bases to share separate twin XL mattresses that can shift apart.

Strengths

— GlacioTex cooling cover and CoolForce layer provide noticeable temperature regulation for hot sleepers.
— SupremeSupport 4.0 memory foam is four times denser than standard foams to deliver robust lumbar support.
— 13.5-inch pillowtop profile offers a plush, pressure-relieving feel that adapts well to side and back sleeping positions.

Watch-outs

— The medium-firm construction may be too rigid for lightweight sleepers under 130 pounds who need deeper contouring.
— Lacks a split king configuration, forcing couples to share two separate twin XL mattresses that can shift apart.

Saatva Zenhaven Latex Mattress

4.4

7 sources

The Saatva Zenhaven Latex Mattress features a flippable design that offers two distinct firmness levels: a Luxury Plush side rated around 5/10 and a Gentle Firm side between 7 and 7.5/10, allowing users to adjust support without buying a new bed. Constructed from natural Talalay latex with organic cotton and New Zealand wool covers, the mattress provides high responsiveness that facilitates easy repositioning for combination sleepers, though Sleep Foundation found motion isolation scores of 6 out of 10 indicate significant transfer that may disturb light sleepers sharing the bed. Edge support is rated as decent but not exceptional, with Sleep Doctor noting a perimeter score of 7/10 suggests users may feel nudged toward the edge during use. This model suits those who value eco-friendly materials and adjustable firmness, while couples prioritizing motion isolation or individuals seeking maximum edge containment should look elsewhere.

Strengths

— Flippable design provides two distinct firmness levels: a Luxury Plush side (rated around 4-6/10) and a Gentle Firm side (rated around 7-7.5/10)
— Constructed entirely from natural Talalay latex, organic cotton, and New Zealand wool for an eco-friendly and hypoallergenic sleep surface
— Highly responsive and bouncy feel that makes it easy to reposition, making it suitable for combination sleepers and those who dislike the 'stuck' feeling of memory foam

Watch-outs

— High motion transfer due to the bouncy latex construction, which may disturb light sleepers sharing the bed with a partner or pet
— Edge support is rated as decent but not exceptional; the high bounce can create a feeling of being nudged toward the edge during use

How they stack up

Saatva Zenhaven Latex Mattress

It offers a flippable design with two distinct firmness levels, providing adjustability that the fixed-firmness Leesa Sapira Hybrid Mattress cannot match. However, its bouncy latex construction results in high motion transfer, making it less suitable for light sleepers than the motion-isolating Leesa Sapira Hybrid.
