Ryzen 7 7840HS and an RTX 4060 under a thousand
The configuration is the reason to look at this at all: a Ryzen 7 7840HS, an RTX 4060, 16GB of memory and a 1TB SSD, at a price that undercuts most machines carrying that GPU. PCWorld scored it 3.5 out of 5 and IGN 6.5 out of 10, and both read the same way, that the parts list does what it says at 1080p and sensible settings without the headroom to chase higher resolutions. A 165Hz 1920 x 1200 panel
The screen is a 16-inch IPS panel running 1920 x 1200 at 165Hz. PCWorld picked out the colour accuracy and the smoothness as genuine strengths, which matters because at this price a fast panel is usually where the corners get cut. The taller-than-widescreen shape helps outside games too. It is not a bright display and it is not the highest resolution available at the money, but nothing about it feels like a compromise made to hit a headline number.
Two to three hours off the charger
Battery life is the fault that shapes how the machine can be used. PCWorld measured two to three hours in ordinary use, which is not a laptop you take to a lecture or a cafe so much as a small desktop that folds. The charger is the size that implies. If unplugged endurance matters at all this is the wrong machine, and no amount of power-plan tuning changes the arithmetic.
Plastic body, mushy keyboard, audible fans
The chassis is entirely plastic and feels it, light and functional without the rigidity of the metal-shelled machines a tier up. PCWorld found the keyboard mushy, with travel but no defined bottom-out, which matters if the laptop doubles as a work machine. Cooling is adequate rather than good, and LaptopMedia's review is built around exactly that question. The fans are clearly audible under load. There is no Thunderbolt port, though USB-A, USB-C, HDMI and an SD reader are all present.
A performance-mode button, and 5.29 pounds
A dedicated button cycles the power profile without going into software, a small thing that ends up getting used constantly. At 5.29 pounds it is heavy for a machine that will not run long off battery, so the two limitations compound rather than cancel. Bought as a home gaming machine that stays on a desk it is good value; bought as something to carry every day it is the wrong shape of compromise.
